Responsive Web Design

Your website is not just being viewed on a desk anymore.

iPhoneIn fact, it should be readable on any digital device with a web browser no matter what the size. Responsive Web Design is a method where the website automatically responds to different screen sizes and adapts accordingly. It’s a flexible system of switching layout to accommodate for screen size, orientation, platform and so on. No matter what the user prefers as their method of accessing the web a responsive site will fit and with the explosion of tablet computers and smartphones of late (all with very different screen resolutions) it’s an important consideration (to put it mildly).

For example, the iPhone 3 sports a screen resolution of 320×480 pixels, an iPhone 4S is 960×640, the iPad is 1024×768, Google’s Nexus S is 480×800 and the computer I’m typing this on sports a screen size of 1920×1080 pixels. You get the idea.

This site is responsive*. Check it on your iPad, your phone, netbook or grab a corner of your web browser (click the Maximize button if you are full screen) and change your window size. Cool huh?
